Ting Sing Parish

Rev. Fr. Herr, MEP missionary, came to the area around Ting Sing and started the mission in 1929. It was written that he came from Shwe Bo that was part of Mandalay Diocese located in middle Myanmar. And later, Rev. Fr. Callard and Fr. Cassan joined the mission and laid faith foundation for the region. After handing over of the mission from MEP to Columban Missionaries, Rev. Fr. Lawrence McMahon (1950-1971) took charge of Ting Sing Parish. He built churches for the faithful in Ting Sing Pa, Hka U, Gat Rawn, Lung Hkat, Lai Law, Hka Nawng and Hka Pra villages.

At present, Ting Sing Parish is under the administration of Rev. Fr. Peter Chyauhpa Sunday Awng who was appointed as the parish priest on April 1, 2020. And bout (620) Catholic families with (3,750) parishioners are living and sharing christian faith in Ting Sing Parish, and (24) catechists are helping parish priest in (11) communities.
